Proprietorships

Definition of 'Proprietorships'

Proprietorships are similar to directorships, which also appear on Credit Reports, and record the ownership of unincorporated businesses. Directorships and Proprietorships are on Credit Reports just to fluff them out. Adding them to Credit Reports is peculiar to Australia. So far as we know, they add nothing to any decisions made on your ability to get credit. Proprietorship information has historically been obtained by the credit reference agencies from either the Department of Fair Trading or the Office of Business Affairs, but from January 2010, new proprietorship information is no longer included on Credit Reports.
