Directorship

Definition of 'Directorship'

Directorships appear on Credit Reports. Why they appear is a good question. It is true that they fluff out an otherwise thin Credit Report, but the data is taken from ASIC and never updated, except by you, or as a result of time expiry - see later - so the value of adding Directorships to Credit Reports is debateable. Adding Directorships - and Proprietorships for unincorporated businesses - to Credit Reports is peculiar to Australia. So far as we can tell, this information is not used by lenders when they assess you for credit. If Directorship information is no longer correct, you need to advise the credit reference agencies. Previous Directorship information is kept on your Credit Report for 10 years from the date that you ceased being a director. Disqualified Directorship information remain on your Credit Report for 5 years after the term of disqualification.
