Confirmed Missing Debtor

Definition of 'Confirmed Missing Debtor'

Clearouts are sometimes called ‘Confirmed Missing Debtor’ and remain on your Credit Report for 7 years whether the underlying debt has been repaid or not, and have a serious impact on your credit standing. It's a term where the lender believes that you have gone walkabout and despite reasonable attempts to get hold of you – by phone or by writing you – has failed to track you down. If this happens, the lender does not have to wait for payments to be 60 days’ overdue, it can record the Clearout immediately.
