Access

Definition of 'Access'

Access is a type of search footprint left on your credit report when you take a look at your own credit report. This is sometimes called a 'file access'.

An access search footprint is part of an audit trail, alongside other search footprints left by lenders and others on your credit report, whenever your credit report is looked at.

Unlike search footprints left by lenders when assessing a credit application made by you, an access search footprint does not affect your credit standing in any way.

An access search footprint is visible only to you and to the credit reference agency that records it and is not visible to credit providers when they search your credit report..
